In May, 2003, America will celebrate the bicentennial of Emerson's birth. This screenplay has been written in anticipation of the concentration of activities and interest in Emerson's life and work during that time. The film is a dramatic retelling of events within Emerson's Concord circle from the years 1838 to his first speeches on the slavery issue in the mid-1850's.

In addition to Emerson and his family, the film features Henry David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, Bronson Alcott and the other members of the Concord circle. The film is suitable for television or feature presentation, and in its present form is about two hours in length.
