Welcome to this site, where you may examine the titles of my books currently in print. There are reviews, links to publishers, several interviews, two webcasts from WGBH in Boston, and a brief biographical entry. I try to balance my interest in Emerson with Greek Studies, and this last year, in June of 2005, I gave the Keynote Address at the Re-instatement of the Delphic Games in Delphi, Greece, at the invitation of Parabola Magazine and the Isadora Duncan Institute.

In 2006 I completed editing of the 1904-14 Complete Journals in ten volumes as part of the work of the Ralph Waldo Emerson Institute. The result of this work is now available as an Adobe ebook.

Richard Geldard's volume on Anaxagoras is the third and final volume in his immensely successful account of Pre-Socratic thought. His first two volumes brought Heraclitus and Parmenides vividly alive for a twenty-first century audience. The final volume, every bit as brilliant as the first two, is on Anaxagoras, whose concept of Universal Mind is the fountainhead of western idealism as it ranges from Plato and the Neoplatonists to Kant, Hegel, Emerson and beyond. This is an important book, superbly written in accessible language. It makes philosophy as lively and timely as today's newspaper, and, unlike the newspaper, it will be relevant tomorrow.
